Aniversário em Barcelona/ Birthday in Barcelona!

If you want to read this text in english, please just roll down.

Fiquei tensa. No fim deu tudo certo.

A vista, no entanto, valeu a pena.
A música também... house, eletro, whatever - no me gusta.

Fomos. E foi a melhor noite. Fomos em três pubs no Porto Velho - e no primeiro deles (o melhor, aliás), encontramos o italiano e o finlandês do primeiro dia!

5º dia: Dormimos umas três horas, no máximo.

EU ME ACABEI (quem me conhece sabe que sorvete é meu #top1.

No Parc Güell a polícia chegou e eles saíram corendo.

Obs final.: A cidade é linda. Toda esquina é linda. O chão é todo detalhadozinho. Eu quero voltar lá no verão só pra poder entrar no mar - sdds eternas praia <3

Well, I decided to write this post in english too because of my friends here in Bremen. They were asking me how was my trip and etc., so I think it’s fair to let them know what happened too. My English is not so good (I left the English course four years ago and I wasn’t even in advanced), but I’ll try. Sorry for my mistakes.

Well, last Friday was my birthday and I decided to give myself a trip. I bought my flight tickets to Barcelona when I was yet in Brazil. Why Barcelona? Because it’s Barcelona. There’s no explanation.

Airport:
So... I had problems to get into the Bremen’s Airport. As my flight was really early, I decided to sleep there (normal). So I took the tram to the airport at 23h30. But it didn’t go to the airport. It just dropped me before. The conclusion: I found myself carrying a bag at midnight totally alone in a completely desert road. When I finally got there, the airport was closed. I discovered that it only opens at 3h. However, one security guard allowed me to enter and I could nap for almost two hours.
This was the first time that I used my little luggage to travel by Ryan Air (before was a backpack) and it just got stucked at the thing to measure luggages. It was ridiculous. I got nervous. At the end, everything went well.
I arrived at Girona’s Airport and took a bus (two ways for 25 euros) and dropped off at Estácio del Nord, in Barcelona.

About the hostel: Really good. I totally recommend it. And it was so cheap that I was afraid that it didn’t exists hahaha. I paid 40 euros for 5 nights (ok, the room had 14 beds, but anyway). Everything is very clean, organized and new there. The best thing is that it has a kitchen (there is no breakfast) – which means that you can keep some money. Besides, the localization is really really good. The hostel is near to Arc de Triomphe/Parc de La Ciutadella, to Plaza Catalunya/La Rambla and to the subway station Urquinaona. The name of the hostel is Black Swan.

Transport: I didn’t buy the transport ticket (free pass for 5 days – 30 euros more or less) because I did everything by walking. However, the ticket with 10 trips worth – because it costs only 10 euros. I didn’t do it and I spent 2 euros for each single ticket. The tickets could be used in the subway, bus and in the furnicular (the tram that brings you until Montjuic).

Day 1: I met Dani at the hostel and we went to the Parc de La Ciutadella (walking by the Arc de Triomphe). Then we went to the Barcelona’s Cathedral (6 euros) and we walked around in the neighborhood called La Ribeira. We did a lot of things seeing that we slept at the airport (Dani also slept in Lyon’s airport). At night, even tired, we went out. We went to L’Olvella Negra, at the area of El Raval, - a cool bar – and, as a good tourists, we drank sangria. There we met a Brazilian guy, an Italian guy and a finland guy. We ended the night in one another cool place at the Plaça Reial called SideCar. This club is quite small and underground, but the music there is good.

Day 2: This was the hardest day. We walked, at least, 15 km. First we walked until Sagrada Família and we almost gave up when we saw the huge line. We waited there for an hour. The place is really amazing and unbelievable – as my friend said – it worth each cent. I would totally come back there again. Gaudí was a really crazy guy.
After that, we walked until La Pedreira and the Casa Batlló, but we did’nt enter – we had to decide between eat and visit the attractions (missing Scotland at this moment – almost everything there is free). So we walked along the Passeig de Grácia, reached La Rambla and got into Mercado de La Boqueria, where we ate empanada. We continued walking until the port. We visited a mall – but it was kind of a coincidence, because we were losted and trying to find the beach. Finally we arrived in Barceloneta and we stayed there, casted-off in the sand. Then we came back soon because the wind was cold.
At this day, two german guys appeared in our room and we went out with them at night. The initial idea was go to a Halloween party near to the hostel – we even bought a ridiculous hat like a costume (just to not pay the entrance), but the music was too bad. Dani gave me one Jägermeister shot as a birthday gift hahaha. Then we gave up of that place and went one more time to L’Ovella Negra. We ordered 5 liters of sangria there. So… I don’t need to say that I don’t want to see this drink in front of me anymore.

Day 3: So... this was the day of my birthday. And I, that never get a hangover, won this amazing gift – I spent all day tired and with a fucking headache. But we went out, anyway. I pretended to be a rich tourist and had luch at La Rambla, eating paella. After that, we went to Montjuic. We took the furnicular and then the cableway (10 euros) until the “castle”. Really, one big ~wtf~ for this castle, there is nothing there! The view of the city, on the other hand, worth it. Then we got down again and visited the Miró Institut – the paintings of the end of his career are the best. After that, we went to the hostel and slept before to go out at night.
The germans guys decided to go to a club called Opium, at Barceloneta’s beach. We entered there for free because we wrote our names at the list, but one drink at this place was like… 17 euros! And the music… house, eletro, whatever… no me gusta. Then we took the last subway, at 2h and went one more time to the SideCar Club – and it was full. Nevertheless, I wasn’t in the mood. It’s kind of difficult to celebrate something when you are hangovered. So we left our friends drinking there and went back to the hostel. Well… we tried. We totally got lost – I have no idea how the fuck it happened. When I noticed we were walking in circles through deserts streets of Barcelona at 5h30. We just found the hostel half an hour later.

Day 4: Recovered, we took the subway to the Parc Güell (we bought our tickets online – faster and it avoids lines). It’s nice there, but I was expecting more. Besides, to get into the museum we should pay more. So we tought that it was an exploration and got off. Then we took a bus full of Brazilians (scandalous people screaming and singing football hymns). What a shame.
So we walked around the Gotic Neighbohood and found some cool stores. We tried also to get into the famous place La Xampanyeria, but it was crowded (of course) and I didn’t find it so good. Then we went to a bar on the sidewalk at Passeig de Isabel II and we ate bread with tomate and tortillas. After that, we went back to the hostel to sleep, we were really tired. Then somebody just appeared organizing a pub crawl and suddenly we decided to go. In 5 minutes we got ready. It was the best night. We went to three different pubs at the Port Vell – and at the first of them (the best, by the way) we met the Italian and the finland guys from the first day! It was a big coincidence seeing that Barcelona is huge. At the end, we went to a club but we came back early because we knew that we had to wake up early in the next morning.

Day 5: We slept three hours, at the most. We woke up at 7h30 and got into Picasso’s Museum for free – every first Sunday of the month some places are free in Barcelona (but you should imagine the lines). The museum is really good. After that, we visited the church Santa Maria del Mar and Mercado del Borne. Dani got back to the hostel to rest and I went to the Museum of the History of Catalunia – the best thing there is the view, haha. So I went to the beach once more, ate some churros and walked around of La Rambla.
When I was coming back to the hostel I met Dani going to buy water – and we finished our day in one very cool place – the beer there is 1 euro (half liter) and all the tapas (there are more than 100) costs 1 euro as well (but only at Sundays).

My observations about the trip:

Obs1.: Barcelona is orange.

Obs2.: Barcelona is kind of messy, dirty and chaotic.

Obs3.: The traffic is kind of crazy, nobody respects the pedestrian light (I missed Germany at this point).

Obs4.: Every corner has an ice cream shop! I bought it a lot (who knows me knows also that ice cream is my #top1). I tried a really good chocolate cornet  - they call it cucurucho – I loved this word.

"Unorganized, very funny, party atmosphere all the time – this is why it reminds Brazil."(BOUWMAN, Daniela - about Barcelona)

Obs5.: There are milions of beer’s hawkers. I found it very bother and weird.

Obs6.: When we were entering into the McDonalds, one prostitute just through herself upon one of the germans. People say that they get close to robber too.

Obs7.: One of the germans told me that he was already robbed twice there.

Obs8.: There are hawkers everywhere. At Parc Güell the policy came and they runned away.

Obs9.: At the mall in the Port there is a sex shop really exposed, close to the entrance, and we found it bizarre because some kids just passed and looked everything.

Obs10.: One night, really late, one girl thrown up at the sink of the hostel. It was really disgusting.

Obs11.: The Spanish behaviour reminds a lot of the brazilian’s. They are opened and funny. The parties there are really more similar to the brazilian’s parties than the german’s.

Obs12.: The weather: amazing! There was sun every day!

Obs13.: Barcelona isn’t cheap. The McDonalds, for example, is more expensive than the McDonalds in Lyon (France) or in Bremen (Germany).

Obs14.: There were a loto f frenchs, germans and italians.

Obs15.: The city was crowded because of the Holiday.

Obs16.: I tried one tapa that was like a mini octopus. It was really ugly, but I enjoyed it!

Obs17.: The city is badly signposted. Really.

Final observation.: The city is really beatiful. I want to get back there!
